As Team Manager for the Transport Strategy and Policy Team you will be responsible for the strategic development of the County Council's transport policies and strategies and the provision of transport input to the development and delivery of wider economic, land use, social and environmental policies, strategies and strategic planning processes that impact Leicestershire.

About the Role

In this role you will

  • Be responsible for the development and periodic review of integrated highways and transport strategies, policies and plans that will deliver the agreed outcomes with and for citizens, communities and other stakeholders.
  • Be responsible for effective transport planning input into internal and external policy documents, development plans and activities including those of the Local Planning Authorities, and regional and national bodies that support housing and employment growth in Leicestershire.

This post is politically restricted therefore the post holder is disqualified from undertaking certain political activities under the Local Government Officers (Political Restrictions) Regulations 1990.

About You

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in the development of high-quality policies and strategies in accordance with statutory requirements including strategic, analytical and creative thinking and its application to transport policy and strategy development.
  • The ability to manage a service to deliver sustainable, collective high performance through effective leadership, the setting of clear priorities and a strong approach to performance management.
  • Knowledge of current legislative requirements, governance and relevant policies and procedures associated with Highways and Transport Legislation.
  • The ability to build powerful relationships across stakeholders, peers and partners, creating open and transparent relationships based on trust.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills including the ability to shape and influence to achieve successful outcomes and to continue to build on the credibility of the Council and its services.
