An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Climate Resilience team to play a leading role in delivering the Council’s commitments and strategic outcomes on climate change and the environment.

About the Role

You will lead on and support the identification, development and delivery of projects and initiatives that support the achievement of the Council’s environmental commitments. You will support the development and delivery of environmental policies and strategies. You will be responsible for line managing a small dedicated team. You will work in partnership with both internal and external partners and stakeholders, while building and maintaining effective working relationships.

You will produce technical and non-technical reports, that require the analyses and interpretation of data and information and will be required on occasions to present reports to a range of audiences, including elected members.

About You

To apply for this post, you must have:

  • Relevant environmental qualification(s) or equivalent work experience in an environmental area.
  • Experience of developing and delivering environmental policies and strategies.
  • Experience of successfully developing and managing projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data and information to produce technical and non-technical reports.
  • Ability and confidence to develop and present reports and presentations to a diverse range of audiences.
  • Ability to work with a range of partners and stakeholders, and of building and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Experience of managing staff.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage complex processes and have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work within tight timescales whilst working under pressure.
