Description: Full Time / 37 hours per week / Permanent Are you interested in working with Parking and Moving Traffic? Do you have the relevant skills to improve transport reliability, journey times and to encourage sustainable travel by working in partnership with our on street civil enforcement team. Come and play an active role where you will make major decisions for all parking and moving traffic operations.
These decisions cover a wide specialist’s area and can relate to a range of matters. Examples include ensuring procedures meet the required standards, providing positive customer services and making technical decisions on a parking ticket or a penalty charge notice for a moving contravention. To meet these requirements, you will work with a small team in Parking & Moving Traffic and will require considerable level of technical knowledge and understanding of notice processing.
This role works 5 days a week in our City Hall office, Monday to Friday.
You will be the first point of contact, and monitor and review all challenges and representations from the issuance of Penalty Charge Notices and Parking Notices in relation to on street parking and moving traffic You will also follow up and enforce outstanding payments, make decisions on representations made by motorists , and attend adjudication hearings representing the City Council’s interests.
You will play an active role in handling complex cases where you be required to investigate and provide clear evidence-based explanations of decisions both directly to the motorist in their challenges and representations and at formal hearings.
You’ll liaise with the General Public, Senior Management, Elected Members, and other agencies in relation to debt collection. You’ll attend weekly team meetings and Adjudication hearings at the Traffic Penalty Tribunal.
What You’ll NeedYou’ll have substantial experience in customer care and/or direct contact with the public including complaints and enquiries. With experience of attending meetings with the public and other professional bodies, you’ll be able to persuade, and negotiate. Your intuitive personality and knowledge will allow you to confidently investigate challenges and representations and follow this up by making decisions and proposing resolutions. You'll be able to deal with emotional customers with compassion and assertiveness whilst maintaining a professional manner.
