Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Patient Engagement Lead to join the team at HMP Fosse Way, a Category C Resettlement prison in Leicester. HMP Fosse Way opened in May 2023. It is a state‑of‑the‑art facility designed to provide skills and qualifications to inmates, helping them secure meaningful employment on release and reduce re‑offending rates.
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4 pm / 9 am – 5 pm.
Salary: £28,485 – £37,109 per annum, depending on experience.
Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK. Due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main Duties of the JobAs the Patient Engagement Lead, your responsibilities will include:
- Encouraging prisoners to engage with the healthcare team and attend appointments, reducing non‑attendance.
- Securing vaccinations, tests and other necessary healthcare.
- Acting as the first point of contact for complaints, escalating where necessary.
- Running patient focus groups, gathering feedback and establishing areas for improvement.
- Providing one‑to‑one support to patients, discussing complaints and feedback.
- Collaborating with patients across all pathways – primary care, mental health, substance misuse.
- Championing health promotion, liaising with prisoners and the wider healthcare team.
- Listening to patient feedback and concerns, addressing them and seeking solutions.
