Overview
The post-holder will be regarded as Reporting Sonographers in the Imaging Department and will fulfil the requirements of their role within the ultrasound team, demonstrating highly specialised knowledge and expertise in all aspects of the diagnostic ultrasound service.
Responsibilities include performing a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound scans across obstetrics, gynaecology, general abdominal, paediatrics, and small parts, producing a high standard of accuracy and quality, and applying a high level of theoretical, practical and technical knowledge while maintaining best patient management for clinicians.
The post-holder will independently report on all performed ultrasound examinations without clinical input.
Responsibilities- Perform a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound scans including obstetrics, gynaecology, general abdominal, paediatrics, and small parts.
- Produce a high standard of accuracy and quality of diagnostic ultrasound imaging with advanced theoretical, practical, and technical knowledge while ensuring high standards of patient care and management for clinicians.
- Independently report on all performed ultrasound examinations without clinical input.
- Train and teach trainee Sonographers and assistant staff in both service delivery and their development needs in a motivational manner.
- Assist in and manage day-to-day workflow, ensuring all data inputs are recorded for patient record integrity and statistical evaluation following departmental protocol.
- Encourage the highest professional and technical standards in all staff through personal example and constructive supervision.
- Demonstrate partnership in professional development, maintaining a high level of technical and theoretical skills through personal CPD.
- Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom or meet the criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route; visa sponsorship applications will be considered alongside others.
- Pre-employment checks including identity verification (remote verification via a certified provider) and DBS (CRB) as required for regulated activities; compliance with relevant codes of practice.
- Awareness of NHS Trust information handling, electronic HR systems, and data protection requirements.
