This role supports the implementation of company policies and the development of strong HSQE standards. It provides competent advice to operational teams, carries out inspections, and helps host external audits.
The position is key in promoting a positive safety culture, engaging the workforce, and acting as a reliable HSEQ point of contact. Responsibilities also include investigating incidents and monitoring HSEQ performance across assigned projects.
Duties & Responsibilities- Monitor HSQE performance through inspections, audits and engagement.
- Take an active role presenting workforce engagement & behavioural safety sessions.
- Identify appropriate improvements and engage with the wider team, to assist in supporting continuous improvement of the Keltbray Business Management System.
- Support and / or lead on incident investigations.
- Prepare written reports as required.
- To promote compliance with all HSQE systems, initiatives and requirements.
- Be an active ambassador in the promoting and embedding Keltbray H&S strategy and associated initiatives, including the Big Six risk mitigation and management model.
- Address any unsafe condition immediately, ensuring corrective actions are taken and recorded. Ensure all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions are promptly reported, logged, and investigated in line with Keltbray procedures.
- Advise on accident and ill health prevention.
- Advise on the prevention of damage to plant, equipment and infrastructure.
- Advise and promote safe systems of work and good working practices.
- Advise on levels of safety training, supervision and instruction and be active in securing high standards in these areas.
- To carry out routine and regular inspection of all delegated locations and to submit written reports on the findings on the day of inspection.
- To escalate all instances of malpractice, all reoccurring findings and poor working standards
- Assist in the production, review and monitor suitability and effectiveness of risk assessments and safe systems of works.
- To stop any work activity where hazardous situations are encountered and there is an imminent risk of serious personal injury.
- Assist in / lead investigations into all events, identify underlying and root causes and make recommendations for SMART remedial actions to prevent recurrence.
- Advise on the selection, maintenance and monitoring the effectiveness of personal protective equipment.
- To draft and / or advise in the preparation of 'assessments' required by legislation such as but not limited to, risk, COSHH, HAVS and noise.
- Initiate and maintain positive measures to raise the level of the HSQEW performance, safety compliance and awareness
- Liaise with inspectors of the Health and Safety Executive, local authorities, fire, police, ambulance services, as necessary, and to foster links with local safety groups, trade associations, training boards, Institute of Occupational Safety and Health etc.
- Advise on the safeguarding of members of the public and other persons who may be affected by site operations and activities.
- Assist with the maintenance of all Company Accreditations.
- Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) – Technician
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety
- Applicable CSCS Card
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
- Environmental Awareness
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working within the relevant sectors, to include highly regulated industries
- Knowledge of occupational safety and health risks, and controls associated with Keltbray business operations
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience of working within the relevant sector
- Temporary Works Awareness
