We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to join our expanding team on the Belvoir Ward, a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) ward at the Bradgate Mental Health Unit.
We are looking for a positive, proactive individual who is passionate about delivering high‑quality care and continuously improving services. Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) are specialised wards that provide inpatient mental health care, assessment and comprehensive treatment to individuals who are experiencing the most acutely disturbed phase of a serious mental disorder, where some present with acute distress and may be at absconding, suicide or self‑harm risk. Belvoir Ward is a 10‑bed Male PICU with a higher staff‑to‑patient ratio compared to most wards.
Mainduties of the job
As a Mental Health Nurse at the Bradgate Mental Health Unit, you will deliver high‑quality, safe, and compassionate care in accordance with NHS values, ensuring dignity, respect, and patient‑centred care at all times. A commitment to safeguarding, equality and diversity, infection prevention and control, and ongoing professional development is essential.
The post holder must demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a clear understanding of the responsibilities associated with working within a Male PICU setting, where patient and staff safety is paramount.

Job responsibilitiesKey responsibilities include:
- Providing and supervising nursing care to male patients in a PICU setting.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to assess, plan and review care plans.
- Maintaining accurate patient records and safe handover practices.
- Implementing infection control measures and safeguarding protocols.
- Engaging in professional development and reflective practice.

Person SpecificationQualifications, experience and skills expected:
- Registration as a Mental Health Nurse with relevant UK regulatory body.
- Experience working in an acute mental health environment, preferably PICU.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and crisis management skills.
