CAMHS LDT - Registered Health/Social Care Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner

Due to successful career progression a vacancy for a Band 6 registered Health/Social Care Professional PBS Practitioner has arisen.

The CAMHS LDT work under the principles of Positive Behaviour Support and STOMP/STAMP agendas to provide a holistic service for children and young people with a moderate to profound Intellectual (Learning) Developmental Disability presenting with mental ill health and associated behaviours and/or high risk behaviours underpinned by co-morbid conditions for which input has already been sought and implemented but sustained change has not been achieved.

Post holders will undertake holistic assessments under the PBS framework enabling an holistic plan to be developed that highlights all areas of need for the CYP, how these needs can be met & who is best placed to meet them.

The postholder will hold a clinical caseload as named lead professional, undertake Initial assessment appointments of new patients referred to CAMHS LDT and participate in the duty worker review rota and out of hours staff safety on call rota.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work under the guidance of the PBS Lead undertaking assessments of CYP open to CAMHS LDT services in line with the principles of PBS to develop a full holistic understanding of the CYP, including how their diagnosis and life events impact upon them and how they mitigate and communicate this impact through the presentation of behaviours of concern.

Initial plans of how these can be avoided, reduced and managed will also be developed as part of this process to enable some immediate strategies to be implemented.

Implementation of these plans may include time limited direct work within the home to aid the CYP and parents to follow and implement changes and strategies recommended.

The post holder will provide psychoeducation to the CYP and their families based around the plans to aid their understanding of the CYP needs and difficulties, and share as appropriate to others involved with the CYP.

If required, functional assessment will be undertaken for individual behaviours with subsequent development of management plans, which include least restrictive strategies.

They will also participate in the provision of parent/carer workshops, training for professionals and follow-up consultations for lead professionals.

The post holders will also undertake patient and parent group work within CAMHS LDT to ensure a wide range of skills and knowledge acquired and maintained.
