This is an external vacancy and is not employment with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
- Part time (24 hours a week) permanent Days/Times:
Weekday afternoons - 12:30-5:30 pm (except Tuesdays which will be 1:00-5:00 pm)
The individual is female, 50 years old and resides in Anlaby Common. They require a dedicated and suitable person to support them due to having MS.
They like/enjoy painting and crafts, cats, reading, shopping. & singing/choir.
About the roleThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Meal, drinks and snacks preparation
- Assisting with general domestic tasks
- Assisting with light gardening
- Assisting with shopping for groceries.
- Assisting with dressing and help with circulation boosting/ physio exercises. Therefore there is a genuine occupational requirement for a female worker exists for this post under the Equality Act 2010 due to privacy and decency.
- Assisting the individual with accessing activities and spending time out in the community.
- Attending/transporting the individual to social activities and appointments. Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.
The suitable candidate must:
- Be motivated, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.
- Be patient, caring and understanding.
- Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).
- Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
- Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.
Must have use of own car and also may need to transport individual to social activities and appointments in their wheelchair accessible van, so a full clean driving licence is required.
Non smoker /non vaper due to asthma and allergy reasons.
The family is looking to adopt either a cat or dog in the future.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post – Cost to be met by the local authority.
The Direct Payments Support Service is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
