Flame Health Optometry have been instructed to recruit a Dispensing Optician for a full-time position in Leicester and Newark, offering £33,000–£34,000 per annum plus a bonus. This role will suit a qualified, GOC-registered professional QDO who combines technical dispensing expertise with a strong commitment to personalised patient care.

Working with an independent optical business, you will dispense spectacles, lenses and optical products according to individual prescriptions and requirements. You will advise patients on frame and lens choices, including single-vision, bifocal, varifocal and specialist options, considering style, comfort and functionality.

The position involves using advanced optical technology, including OCT, to support accurate measurements and fittings. You will also adjust and repair frames, provide attentive service to patients of all ages, and work closely with colleagues to ensure an efficient and seamless experience. The role offers 9am–5pm working hours, with no Sunday shifts, alongside opportunities for further training and professional development.

Our client is an independent optician with a family-business background, recognised for its focus on individualised eye and hearing care. The practice provides premium eye tests, advanced technology and a broad selection of designer frames and lenses, including certified brands such as Mulberry, Ray-Ban and Polo.

Patients can also access personalised frame styling consultations, advanced 3D scans and non-invasive treatments for blepharitis. The practice offers a welcoming, professional environment where service quality, patient comfort and tailored advice are central to the experience.

You will need to be a fully qualified Dispensing Optician with current GOC registration and proven experience within an optical practice. Experience in a customer-focused setting is important, as the role requires you to build rapport with patients of different ages and provide clear, considered guidance.

You should have experience dispensing a broad range of lens types, including single-vision, bifocal, varifocal and specialist lenses. Attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to high standards of customer care are essential. The successful candidate will also be adaptable, proactive and keen to remain informed about developments in optical technology and industry practice.
