Payroll & Pension specialist

Your new company We are working with a well-established public sector organisation seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their payroll team on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a payroll professional with strong end-to-end payroll experience who enjoys working within a complex, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of payroll and pension administration services across a large and diverse workforce.

Your new role knowledge and experience of end-to-end payroll accurately and efficiently on a monthly basis. Ensure payroll calculations are compliant with current payroll legislation and organisational policies. Administer pension schemes, including employee enrolments, contributions, opt-outs, and reporting activities.

Process starters, leavers, salary changes, contractual variations, and statutory payments. Reconcile payroll reports and investigate payroll queries and discrepancies. Maintain accurate employee and payroll records within the HR and payroll systems. Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure payroll accuracy. Support internal and external audits by providing payroll data and documentation. Assist with year-end payroll activities, pension submissions, and statutory reporting.

Contribute to payroll projects, process improvements, and system enhancements. What you'll need to succeed Experience working within the public sector or a highly regulated environment. Knowledge of Local Government Pension Schemes (LGPS), Teacher Pension Scheme (TPS), NHS Pension Scheme, or other public sector pension arrangements. Previous involvement in payroll implementation, systems upgrades, or process improvement initiatives. CIPP qualification or working towards a payroll-related qualification.
