Across higher education, digital transformation is no longer a peripheral technology agenda; it is central to how universities deliver outstanding student experiences, build institutional resilience, support new models of learning and create the skills base the UK economy urgently needs. De Montfort University is responding to that challenge with real ambition, and we are offering you the opportunity to join that ambitious journey.

We have a Digital Transformation Strategy that sets a clear vision for data, technology and digital that is fit for a leading, innovative and empowering university. We will expand our use of digital as an accelerator for more inclusive, personalised and connected experiences across our physical campuses, in both the UK and internationally, combining virtual and social worlds of learning for an optimised experience.

Our successes are already visible in practice; whether it’s our Digital Champions programme, the £6.5m Digital Technology Learning Hub, our cyber and AI capability, or our modern digital support services and a strengthened approach to portfolio and change management. This is an opportunity to join a digital and technology function with genuine momentum, strong institutional sponsorship and a team that is already helping DMU move beyond technology implementation into meaningful, people-centred transformation.

As Head of Digital Delivery and Performance, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how that ambition becomes tangible: ensuring services, programmes, operations and change activities deliver reliable, high quality outcomes for the University.

We are looking for a credible, organised and delivery focused Head of Digital Delivery and Performance to drive directorate performance across strategic and operational delivery, organisational change and transformation. Working closely with the Director of Digital & Technology and the wider leadership team, the post holder will lead the development and delivery of strategic operating plans and embed effective ways of working that provide clear visibility, governance and assurance across services and transformational change programmes.

You will be responsible for:

  • Driving strategic focus
, prioritisation, and performance across the Digital and Technology (D&T) Directorate through effective planning and governance.
  • Leading the development
, implementation, and continuous improvement of the D&T Operating Model.
  • Ensuring robust governance
, decision making, standards, controls and operating processes are embedded across the Directorate.
  • Overseeing operational planning
, performance insight and assurance activities to support effective delivery. Embedding benefits and business realisation across digital delivery, ensuring programmes and change initiatives deliver measurable outcomes, value for money and sustained impact.
  • Strengthening stakeholder engagement
, communications and collaboration across the University.
  • Leading departmental communications and champion a strong, consistent D&T brand.
  • Overseeing financial management
, commercial activity, supplier relationships and contract performance.
  • Developing and embedding organisational capability
, positive culture and high performing behaviours across the Directorate.
  • Leading the D&T Workforce Strategy
, including annual training, development and skills planning.
  • Developing and delivering a Directorate wide Communications Strategy that promotes engagement, awareness, and confidence in D&T services and outcomes.

This is a newly created leadership position, plays a key role in enabling technology driven innovation and delivering digitally inclusive, resilient, secure and value for money services that support the University's Digital Transformation Strategy. Higher education experience is not essential; what matters most is strong delivery skills, communication and the confidence to implement change.
