We are looking for a highly organised and customer‑focused Shipper / Allocator to join our Syston, Leicestershire team.
This fast‑paced operational role plays a vital part in ensuring customer orders are delivered safely, efficiently and on time while maximising fleet utilisation and supporting operational performance. You will work closely with customers, plant teams, commercial colleagues and haulage partners, becoming the centre of daily logistics planning and delivery execution.
Key Responsibilities- Manage customer orders and daily workload planning across a designated plant cluster.
- Coordinate company fleet, franchise operators and external hauliers to meet customer demand.
- Proactively manage the order book to maximise efficiency and service performance.
- Collaborate with commercial and operational teams to resolve issues and support customer requirements.
- Communicate effectively with customers about delivery schedules, delays and alternative solutions.
- Manage vehicle movements and transport resources in response to operational challenges.
- Monitor haulage performance, compliance, fleet utilisation and empty mileage.
- Support business continuity during plant shutdowns, breakdowns and other disruptions.
- Develop strong relationships with key customers and anticipate future demand.
- Maintain accurate records and complete all associated administration within agreed deadlines.
- Identify opportunities to improve service, reduce costs and enhance operational performance.
- Experience in transport, logistics, distribution, planning or customer service environments.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to make effective decisions in a fast‑moving operational setting.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Proactive and solutions‑focused approach.
- Strong attention to detail and administrative accuracy.
- Confidence working with multiple systems and managing competing priorities.
