Contract until August 2027 with the possibility of extension

Adecco are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Tactical Buyer to join their Procurement team in Leicester. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced purchasing or supply chain professional to support a busy manufacturing environment, ensuring materials are available to meet production demands while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Manage MRP requirements, raising and amending purchase orders to support business demand.
Obtain supplier quotations, place orders and track deliveries.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, resolving delivery, quality and cost issues.
Communicate forecasts and schedule changes to suppliers.
Maintain accurate records within the ERP system.
Monitor supplier performance and support continuous improvement activities.
Work closely with Procurement, Engineering, Quality and Operations teams.
Support inventory management initiatives, including stock reduction and replenishment processes.
Resolve invoice discrepancies, receiving errors and shipment issues.
Expedite and de-expedite materials as required to meet business needs.

About You

We're looking for someone with previous experience in a Buyer, Tactical Buyer, Procurement or Supply Chain role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Essential requirements:

Experience using an ERP system, ideally SAP.
Strong Excel skills, including recent experience using Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
Previous experience managing purchase orders and supplier relationships.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities.

Desirable:

Manufacturing, engineering or electronics sector experience.
CIPS qualification or supply chain certification.
Understanding of inventory management, replenishment planning and vendor-managed inventory (VMI).

Working Hours

Monday to Friday
8:00am - 4:00pm (flexibility available)
37.5 hours per week
Fully office-based in Leicester If you have strong procurement experience, excellent SAP knowledge and advanced Excel skills, we'd love to hear from you.
