We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join a busy school, helping to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

This is a hands-on role that would suit an individual with maintenance, facilities, or caretaking experience who takes pride in keeping buildings and grounds well-maintained and operating efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

* Opening and/or securing the school premises.

* Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs.

* Ensuring school buildings and grounds are safe, clean, and well-presented.

* Conducting routine health and safety checks.

* Responding to maintenance requests and site-related issues.

* Monitoring site security and reporting concerns.

* Assisting with room setups for meetings, events, and examinations.

* Liaising with contractors and overseeing site access where required.

* Supporting compliance with health and safety procedures.

* Assisting with the day-to-day operation of the school site.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

* Previous experience in a caretaker, site assistant, maintenance, facilities, or similar role.

* Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.

* Knowledge of health and safety procedures.

* A reliable, flexible, and proactive approach to work.

* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

* The ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.

* Good communication skills and a professional manner.

Essential Requirements

* Previous caretaking, maintenance, or facilities experience.

* Ability to carry out the physical demands of the role.

* Commitment to maintaining a safe and secure school environment.

* A current Enhanced DBS Certificate registered with the DBS Update Service.

This position is based within a school. Due to safeguarding requirements, we are unable to consider candidates who do not already hold a valid Enhanced DBS Certificate registered with the DBS Update Service.
