General Manager

We are conducting an executive search on behalf of a well‑established and growing organisation in Wiltshire to appoint an experienced General Manager. This appointment is a key leadership role within the business, carrying full accountability for site performance and operational delivery.

Reporting to Group Leadership, the General Manager will have responsibility for overseeing all day‑to‑day site operations, including production, sales support, e‑commerce fulfilment, and commercial decision‑making. The role involves leading the Production Manager and wider operational teams, ensuring that work is delivered efficiently, profitably, and to exacting quality standards.

This position will appeal to a commercially astute operational leader who enjoys being close to the detail, while retaining the ability to step back and make considered, strategic decisions.

Role Scope & Responsibilities
  • Full accountability for day‑to‑day site operations, workflow, and performance
  • Leadership of production operations through the Production Manager, with a focus on quality, efficiency, and delivery
  • Ownership of job costing, pricing review, and commercial assessment of work
  • Strategic support to internal sales teams on pricing, lead times, and production methodologies
  • Oversight of outsourced print partners and key supplier relationships
  • Responsibility for compliance with GOTS and FSC certifications
  • Oversight of stock control, purchasing, and supplier performance
  • Operational leadership of Shopify e‑commerce fulfilment
  • Leadership, development, and performance management of operational teams
  • Continuous improvement across cost, margin, quality, and customer service
Candidate Profile
  • Experienced General Manager, Operations Director, or Senior Operations Leader
  • Background in manufacturing, print, or packaging environments
  • Strong commercial and financial judgement, particularly around pricing, margin, and operational profitability
  • Proven track record of leading production teams and managing third‑party suppliers
  • Comfortable operating cross‑functionally with sales and customer service teams
  • Experience with in certified or regulated environments (GOTS, FSC, ISO) is desirable
