We are now seeking an experienced and motivated Accommodation Manager to join our small, dedicated team and lead the management of one of our modern halls of residence.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager looking to advance their career within a dynamic higher education environment.

You will directly manage a team of five staff and take responsibility for the day-to-day management of a university-managed hall of residence on the City Centre Campus. You will ensure a highly customer-focused service for students, staff and stakeholders, in line with the Universities UK Code of Practice.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement operational plans for accommodation service delivery
  • Ensure accommodation services are delivered to required standards and performance levels
  • Prioritise student welfare and manage pastoral matters with empathy and professionalism
  • Monitor expenditure, ensuring services remain within budget and deliver value for money
  • Work collaboratively with relevant university teams to ensure compliance with all health, safety, wellbeing and environmental policies
  • Proven experience managing and delivering high-quality accommodation services
  • Experience working with either the Universities UK or Accreditation Network UK Code of Practice
  • Experience in a highly customer-focused role
  • Demonstrated success in managing teams to deliver high standards of performance
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and that of your team
  • Full First Aid qualification (training can be provided)
  • Flexibility to work outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends, to support operational needs
  • Degree-level education (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, such as hospitality
  • Experience working within the higher education sector
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills

The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University.
