CAD Technician

Robertson Recruitment are working with a precision metal fabrication specialist delivering high-quality engineered solutions across a range of industries. As part of their continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CAD technician with programming skills to join an already dynamic team. You will be responsible for creating accurate 2D and 3D models, producing manufacturing drawings, and generating machine-ready programs for the fabrication equipment.

You will work closely with the design, production, and engineering teams to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality output.

• Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings from customer specifications and concept designs
• Generate CNC programs for laser cutting, punching, bending, and other fabrication processes
• Interpret technical drawings and convert them into production-ready files
• Optimise material usage and nesting to reduce waste
• Liaise with production teams to ensure smooth workflow and resolve technical issues
• Maintain accurate documentation and revision control
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department

• Proven experience as a CAD Programmer within a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment
• Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, RADAN, Inventor or similar)
• Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes
• Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings
• Knowledge of CNC programming and nesting software
• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
