Salary-up to £54,000 a year

My client is seeking a proactive, hands‑on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our permanent night‑shift engineering team at our large‑scale manufacturing facility in Essex. This newly created role supports increased site coverage as part of ongoing investment and growth. Working within a highly automated manufacturing environment, you will deliver high‑quality planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance across production plant and site services.

You ll play a key role in reducing downtime, improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and supporting continuous improvement across complex, high‑speed production lines. This is a multi‑skilled role with a strong mechanical bias. As the only engineer on nights at times, you ll need basic electrical fault‑finding capability alongside strong mechanical expertise.

• Carry out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on production plant and associated services
• Must be ideally apprentice trained with relevant engineering qualifications
• Strong mechanical skills – hydraulics, pneumatics, changing belts, bearings, chains
• Assist with machinery installations and upgrades alongside project teams
• Work collaboratively within a multi‑skilled night‑shift engineering team
• Comfortable working independently on nights
