This is a full-time, on-site Printing Ink Formulation Chemist role based in Leicester. The role involves developing and optimizing printing ink formulations for textile and graphics applications, ensuring products meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. Day-to-day tasks include conducting laboratory experiments, preparing test batches, evaluating ink properties (such as viscosity, color strength, adhesion, and drying time), and documenting results. The chemist collaborates with R&D, production, and quality teams to solve technical issues, improve existing products, and support scale-up from lab to manufacturing.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, following laboratory safety procedures, supporting customer trials, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in product quality and process efficiency.

• Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills to interpret test data, troubleshoot formulation issues, and make data-driven recommendations.
• Candidates should possess solid Laboratory Skills, including safe handling of chemicals, use of lab equipment, and accurate preparation of samples and test formulations.
• Candidates should possess Quality Control expertise to perform routine testing, ensure consistency of ink batches, and adhere to internal and external standards.
• Candidates should possess Research and Development (R&D) capabilities to design experiments, develop new ink systems, and optimize existing formulations.
• Candidates should possess Formulation skills to balance raw materials, adjust properties for specific substrates and printing methods, and scale formulations for production.
• Relevant qualifications such as a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field are highly beneficial.
• Experience in printing inks, coatings, textiles, or graphics-related chemistry, along with knowledge of color science and polymer chemistry, is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in an on-site environment are important.
