Staff Nurse

We are looking for Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our Transitional Care Unit, working in partnership with the Neonatal Unit. The neonatal unit has 12 beds. You will provide safe, effective, family‑centred care to newborns requiring additional monitoring and low‑dependency support, enabling babies to remain with their mothers whenever possible.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, support infant feeding, promote parent‑infant bonding, and elevate concerns appropriately. You will also contribute to seamless care across maternity, transitional care and neonatal services.

• Deliver safe, effective, evidence‑based care to newborns requiring transitional care within the postnatal ward and neonatal unit support.
• Monitor and assess infants, recognising and escalating any signs of clinical deterioration.
• Support and promote infant feeding, including breastfeeding and responsive feeding practices.
• Facilitate parent‑infant bonding and provide education to parents to enable confident care of their baby.
• Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, family‑centred care.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Adhere to local policies, guidelines and infection prevention standards.
• Participate in shift coordination as appropriate and support the wider maternity and neonatal teams.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and neonatal training opportunities.
