Job Summary

Senior Nurse to join the Primary Care team at HMP Fosse Way, a Category C resettlement prison in Leicester.

HMP Fosse Way opened in May 2023. Its state‑of‑the‑art design and facilities provide a secure environment where we deliver skills and qualifications to inmates, enabling them to secure meaningful employment on release and reducing reoffending rates.

Hours and Salary
  • Monday – Sunday service
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Day shifts – 07:00‑20:00
  • Night shifts – 19:30‑07:30
  • 1 week in 4 weekends
  • 8‑week rolling rota

Annual salary £43,609 – £49,175, depending on experience.

Main Duties
  • Lead a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver a nurse‑led service and reduce hospital admissions
  • Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening
  • Provide evidence‑based care, actively listening to and acting on patient feedback, personalising care based on what matters to them
  • Deliver non‑judgemental care that makes a real difference
  • Forge strong links with partners and stakeholders to build a service that patients trust, feel safe in, and feel proud of
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence‑based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, build strong multi‑disciplinary teams and support each other to achieve excellence

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (Adult) – NMC
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proactive problem‑solving skills
  • Motivated as an individual and as part of a team

Ideal candidates would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.

Additional Criteria

Secure environment working experience is highly valued.
