The Role

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner to provide occupational health advice ensuring compliance with legislation to employees in all areas. The role requires a collaborative, pragmatic person who can work with us, adopting and reflecting the Geary’s culture.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking health surveillance such as lung function testing, audiometry testing, depending on the hazards within a role.
  • Receiving, interpreting and managing highly complex health information from employees, managers and/or HR which may lead to restrictions being placed on an employee’s job role.
  • Communicating this information to non‑clinical employees in a clear and understandable way.
  • Working as an autonomous practitioner offering specialist advice to both managers and staff.
  • Providing health promotion and wellbeing advice and campaigns.
  • Supporting risk management and reduction relating to health.
  • Helping to identify and prevent work‑related ill health.
  • Assessing the impact of work or tasks on people’s health.
  • Advising on management of health emergencies and first aid management.
About You
  • Must be a team player and happy to work autonomously.
  • Self‑motivated and proactive, can work independently.
  • Focused on delivering the tasks, not just identifying what should be done.
  • Works on own initiative to complete and deliver.
  • Simplistic approach – keeps things simple but effective.
  • Persistent – adapts and finds ways to overcome challenges.
  • Solution focused; will take full responsibility for the area.
  • Able to interact with all levels of people, from the board of directors to a new factory operative.
Skills and Experience
  • Current NMC registration.
  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Health.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Occupational Health.
  • Experience in both case management and health surveillance.
