Renal Staff Nurse

The closing date is 29 October 2026

Ward 30 at Glenfield Hospital is a specialised renal unit providing high-quality care for patients with acute and chronic kidney conditions. The ward supports individuals undergoing haemodialysis, as well as patients with complex renal needs requiring close monitoring and intervention. In addition, the ward includes Level 2 beds for the management of acutely unwell renal patients who require enhanced observation and clinical support.

As a Staff Nurse on Ward 30, you will have experience in renal dialysis care or have an interest in developing renal dialysis skills. You will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care within a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients with a wide range of renal conditions, including those receiving dialysis and those with acute kidney injury or complications of chronic kidney disease.

The role involves developing specialist skills in renal nursing, including dialysis management, fluid balance monitoring, and the care of patients requiring higher levels of clinical support. You will also contribute to the management of deteriorating patients in Level 2 beds, working closely with medical staff and outreach teams to ensure timely escalation and intervention.

Main duties of the job

Please note:
Applicants must have a 12 months post-registration NHS experience as a qualified Registered Nurse in an acute clinical setting. Applications from newly qualified nurses will not be considered for this post.

The post holder will be expected to demonstrate strong communication skills, compassion, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy clinical environment. A commitment to delivering high‑quality care and improving patient outcomes is essential.

Accurately monitor and record observations, fluid balance, and clinical parameters, taking appropriate action in response to deterioration.

Recognise and elevate concerns using appropriate tools and protocols, working closely with medical and outreach teams.
