We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team here at Allied Universal as a Quality Operations Team Leader. As a fast paced and growing business, we are looking for a hands‑on Quality Operations Team Leader with a strong background in manufacturing and quality control as well as the ability to lead and manage the Quality team.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Lead and coordinate quality inspection, calibration and improvement activities to ensure products and processes meet defined quality standards.
  • Provide daily direction to a small team of inspectors.
  • Support root‑cause problem solving and act as key interface between quality and production/operations teams.
  • Manage calibration planning and execution, including external providers, and maintain accurate records and certificates.
  • Supervise, coach and support quality inspectors to ensure high performance and compliance.
  • Assign daily tasks and inspection coverage based on workload, priorities and production schedules using sampling/AQL standards.
  • Ensure all critical components and finished products are inspected in accordance with product quality criteria and QC inspection plan.
  • Ensure inspectors have the correct tooling, equipment, reference materials, PPE and instructions to perform quality checks.
  • Work with production supervisors to identify quality issues quickly and, where necessary, elevate them to relevant departments.
  • Coordinate corrective actions for non‑conforming items, including containment, documentation and follow‑up (internal and external suppliers).
  • Support root‑cause analysis and implement improvements to reduce repeat defects and errors.
  • Ensure inspection procedures comply with internal documented procedures, customer/drawing specifications and applicable functional requirements.
  • Report quality inspection results, calibration status and key issues to management in regular updates.
  • Plan, schedule and manage calibration activities for inspection and measurement equipment to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Liaise with contract manufacturers and external calibration laboratories to arrange outsourced calibration services and track work orders.
  • Maintain the calibration database to monitor equipment status, intervals and certification expiry date.
  • Coordinate calibration priorities with production schedules and equipment usage requirements.
  • Ensure critical quality records and calibration certificates are properly maintained, stored and retrievable for audits and inspections.
  • Ensure inspection and calibration activities comply with applicable quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Communicate effectively with production, engineering, suppliers and external service providers to align priorities and resolve issues.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
  • Leadership to guide inspectors, assign work, and motivate team.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to delegate, coordinate tasks, and manage priorities.
  • Conflict resolution and emotional intelligence for team dynamics.
  • Problem‑solving skills to resolve quality issues quickly.
  • Attention to detail in inspections and record keeping.
  • Excellent organisation & time management with prioritisation of work.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage calibration certificates and quality records meticulously.
  • Clear verbal and written communication with internal teams and external partners.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
  • Experience mentoring and developing staff over time.
  • Audit participation experience (internal/external).
  • Familiarity with digital calibration trackers / QMS tools.
  • Use of advanced root‑cause methodologies (e.g., 8D).
  • Experience leading continuous improvement projects.
