As our Retail Manager at Kingston Lacy, you’ll play an important part in helping people enjoy their day. And you’ll be generating crucial funds for the National Trust to invest in protecting and caring for places, so people and nature can thrive. Hours: 1950 hours per year. This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. Working on average 37.5 hours per week. Due to seasonal trading variations, this may be less during autumn/winter and more during spring/summer. Role does require some weekend work but no evenings or split shifts.
Salary: £30,000 per annum

What it's like to work hereReporting to the Area Manager, you’ll be leading a small team of 6 retail assistants and will be supported by your retail team leader. You’ll be part of the leadership team at Kingston Lacy, and will work closely with the General Manager, Operations Manager and the wider team, actively involved in making decisions that affect the whole place.

What you’ll be doingYour focus every day will be on your customers: going out of your way to make sure they’re having their best possible day. You’ll lead your team from the front, encouraging them to speak to people and listen to what they want. And also to inspire them, so that everyone who buys something knows just what a difference their contribution, however small, will make to the work of the Trust in protecting nature, beauty, and history.
You’ll set stretching targets for the team, and work together to achieve these through the highest standards of customer service and presentation of retail products.
- an experienced retail manager, familiar with standard processes (including selling, merchandising, space management, stock control, risk)
- skilled in coaching, developing and leading teams
- experienced in managing rotas and recruiting staff
- adept at getting maximum sales out of a retail outlet
