Job Overview
Residential Support Worker – provide care and support for residents within Approved Premises, ensuring well‑being, safety and compliance with security and care plans.
Responsibilities- Maintain discipline, supervise residents and enforce Approved Premises rules and licence conditions.
- Conduct regular inspections, monitor CCTV and keep premises secured during curfew.
- Engage with residents in a pro‑social manner, support risk‑management plans and report changes.
- Coordinate with Offender Managers, Stand‑by Manager and partner agencies (Police, health professionals, drug/alcohol services).
- Attend to health and safety duties (fire alarm checks, first aid, medication administration, drug/alcohol testing).
- Plan and deliver purposeful activities linked to residents’ sentence plans.
- Handle visitor and telephone enquiries, manage visiting contractors and maintain records.
- Undertake safeguarding child duties and other statutory responsibilities.
- Provide accurate situational reports to management and escalated risks.
- Support a safe working environment for staff, residents and visitors.
- Perform induction of new residents and assist with their transition.
- Carry out tasks as directed, including packaging residents’ possessions when required.
- Minimum 5 GCSEs including English and Maths, or equivalent.
- Experience working with people who have experienced social or personal difficulties.
- Understanding of equality and inclusion principles and ability to apply them.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (Welsh where required).
