Housing Options Officer

Location: Nottinghamshire, UK
Contract: 6 months
Working pattern: Hybrid, Office 1 day per week, WFH 4 days

We’re currently recruiting for a Housing Options Officer to join a local authority client in Nottinghamshire on a 6-month contract.

The role will focus on providing housing options advice and managing homelessness cases within a busy local authority environment. You will need strong practical experience in Housing Options and a solid working knowledge of Part VII of the Housing Act 1996
.

• Manage homelessness and housing options cases from initial assessment through to resolution
• Provide clear and appropriate housing advice to applicants
• Assess housing and homelessness circumstances in line with relevant legislation and local authority procedures
• Apply Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 when assessing homelessness applications
• Determine housing duties and appropriate housing options based on individual circumstances
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure decisions are properly documented
• Work within statutory timescales and relevant local authority policies
• Liaise with applicants, landlords, housing providers and other relevant services
• Identify suitable housing solutions and make appropriate referrals where required
• Manage a busy caseload while maintaining a high standard of customer service

• Strong Housing Options experience is essential
• Solid working knowledge of Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 is essential
• Previous experience managing homelessness cases
• Experience working within a local authority housing environment
• Good understanding of homelessness legislation and housing duties
• Strong case management and organisational skills
• Ability to manage a busy caseload effectively
• Strong communication and decision-making skills
