Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Lead Developer to join our eCommerce team.
About the TeamOur eCommerce websites and apps have grown steadily over the past 10 years to become one of the largest online retail platforms in the UK. We sell to 70 international markets, offering 6 million active customers a personalized shopping experience and the ability to purchase from a wide range of products using multiple delivery methods and payment types.
We have rewritten our customer‑facing iOS apps using Swift
UI, bringing a fresh, accessible and seamless experience to our users. With our eCommerce apps driving around 50% of our online trade, this is a fantastic project to be part of.
- Help establish architectural foundations: influence best practice for setting up new, performant iOS apps.
- Design and implement features: create white‑label mobile apps that offer rich functionality and an inclusive and accessible experience for all users.
- Build adaptive user interfaces: develop intuitive phone and tablet interfaces that scale across various screen sizes.
- Collaborate and lead: work with product owners, UX, marketing, and a team of developers to understand requirements and provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.
- Mentor 1‑2 iOS development squads.
- Appraise the product: consistently review and improve the iOS mobile app offering.
- Build a sound understanding of Next apps: know the Apple ecosystem and understand backend services, connectivity, API integration, deep linking variations.
- Manage deployments and oversee Azure build pipelines.
- Technical proficiency: demonstrable experience building robust iOS applications using Swift and Swift
UI (experience with Swift 6, iOS 18 and above) and familiarity with the Apple ecosystem. - Analytical and problem‑solving skills: ability to troubleshoot, optimise performance, and resolve complex technical issues.
- Automation: proficiency in unit testing and UI tests using Swift Testing & XCUITest frameworks.
- Agile methodologies: track record in agile development, including Scrum.
- CI/CD: solid experience with continuous integration and delivery, e.g., Azure Dev Ops.
Hands‑on experience with RESTful API integration.
Nice to Have- Experience with complex deep linking.
- Integrating webview accessibility.
- Accessibility expertise.
- Apps handling multiple languages.
