Job Title: Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Location: Leicester

Hybrid work Module: 3 days from Office and 2 days from Home

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our dynamic team of 10+ engineers building a family of Life Safety products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embedded development, with a focus on Embedded Linux / RTOS and QT. This role requires a deep understanding of the full project lifecycle, from project inception to toolchain setup and deployment.

Knowledge of Ubuntu Core and Snap development is a significant advantage.

• Design, develop, and maintain robust embedded software solutions for our cutting-edge products.
• Be a technical leader throughout the full project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, integration, testing, and maintenance.
• Set up and manage tool chains and build environments for efficient software development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of software components.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and peers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and efficiency.

• Master’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in Embedded software development or at least 5+ years of experience in Embedded Linux development.
• Experience in Free RTOS is plus.
• QT/QML development in an embedded development is a big plus.
• Strong C/C++ coding skills, ideally in embedded environments. Other languages are a plus.
• Familiarity with Ubuntu Core and Snaps is a plus.
• Experience in developing complex systems. Strong knowledge of setting up and managing development tool chains. Good to have with CI/CD pipeline deployment.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent sense of ownership and desire to grow.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of an agile/scrum team in a fast-paced environment.
