Job Description & How to Apply Below

“Bringing knowledge, experience and science together to discover, develop and deliver therapies for CNS disorders”

Are you a proactive team player with a flexible mindset and a passion for contributing to the development of medicines for rare CNS disorders? We are looking for an experienced Scientist to join us on a temporary basis (approx. 10 months).

Scope of Position:

As a Scientist Molecular Biology, you will join our Discovery department to support the development of antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) for brain diseases. You will be responsible for designing, executing, and analysing a broad set of in vitro experiments to evaluate ASO properties at the molecular and cellular level. You will report directly to the Senior Scientist managing the program and work closely with other scientists and technicians to ensure project continuity during this coverage period.

What

will you do?
  • Optimize new assays for ASO candidate screening in cell-based assays.
  • Design, plan, and execute experiments to evaluate ASO efficacy in vitro.
  • Perform rigorous data analysis and interpretation of experimental results.
  • Present data regularly during internal team meetings to keep stakeholders aligned.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of literature regarding RNA-modulating ASOs.
  • Ensure meticulous lab documentation and knowledge transfer throughout the assignment.
What will you bring?
  • A recently obtained PhD in life sciences with a strong background in molecular biology.
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and mRNA isolation/quantitation (qPCR and/or digital droplet PCR).
  • Experience with protein quantification techniques (ELISA, capillary immunoassay, and/or Western blot).
  • Familiarity with brain disease models and/or primary/iPSC-derived neuronal culture is a strong plus.
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting skills and a proactive, "can-do" attitude.
  • The ability to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic biotech environment.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) and strong scientific presentation skills.
What do we offer?
  • The position is based on a fixed-term service agreement. The contract will be held with Check Mark and is expected to run for 10 months.
  • A working week of 32–40 hours (finalized in the service agreement).
  • Access to our state-of-the-art laboratory facilities in Leiden for the execution of the project.
  • Use of a company laptop for the duration of the assignment.
  • The opportunity to apply your expertise to high-impact research at the forefront of ASO technology.
Does this sound like the role for you? If so, we’d love to receive your application!#J-18808-Ljbffr
