Bioinformatics System Administrator

As a Bioinformatics System Administrator, you play a key role in both data analysis and the optimization of bioinformatics infrastructure.

• Perform bioinformatics analyses for commercial projects and manage timelines
• Develop and optimize pipelines and tools, including code review and testing
• Maintain and improve Linux-based bioinformatics infrastructure (HPC)
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with external partners
• Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with standards
• Drive continuous improvements and support knowledge sharing within the team

• Bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics or a related field plus 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a commercial setting
• Strong experience with Linux (system administration and HPC environments)
• Proficiency in programming/scripting (Python, R, or similar)
• Experience with bioinformatics tools and NGS data analysis
• Hands‑on experience with pipeline development (e.g., Nextflow)
• Familiarity with GIT version control and software‑development best practices
• Understanding of data security, quality standards, and validation processes
• Based within 35 km of our Leiden office
