Setting Out Engineer - Civils

About the role

You’ll be working on a major long-term infrastructure scheme in Leiston, Suffolk, supporting a large and complex civil engineering project with significant regional investment. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll be involved in accurate setting out, surveying, and supporting site delivery teams across various phases of works.

This isn’t a straightforward roads-and-sewers package – the project demands high standards, strong technical ability, and someone comfortable working within a fast‑paced, heavily regulated environment alongside multiple contractors and stakeholders.

• Carry out accurate setting out for civil engineering and infrastructure works
• Produce and maintain QA records, as‑built drawings, and site documentation
• Work closely with site teams, subcontractors, and management to ensure programme targets are met
• Ensure works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, and health & safety standards
• Assist with surveying, levelling, and quality control across site activities

• CSCS Card
• Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience
• Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on large civil engineering or infrastructure projects
• Competent using surveying equipment and interpreting technical drawings
• Strong understanding of QA processes and site documentation

You will be working with a well‑established contractor delivering nationally significant infrastructure works across the UK. The business has a strong reputation for delivering complex projects safely and efficiently, with a long pipeline of secured work in the region.

• £300 – £400 per day CIS, dependent on experience
• 12‑month contract on a secured long‑term project
