About The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Plant Fitter to join our Ground Engineering team working on the Sizewell C project in Leiston, Suffolk. Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low‑carbon electricity.

The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies:
Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke. We are more than just an alliance; we are bringing together a single delivery organisation with years of learning and experience from other major complex infrastructure programmes worldwide.

• Provide depot and mobile support to busy Plant Operations at Leiston;
• Inspect plant machinery to identify faults and assess required repairs;
• Arrange spare parts and coordinate manpower resources needed to complete repairs;
• Diagnose faults, service, strip, repair and test engines, transmissions and fuel injection systems under supervision;
• Carry out electrical fault finding across 12v and 24v systems;
• Read and work from electrical drawings to support accurate diagnosis and repair;
• Maintain and test charging systems and batteries;
• Install accessories using the correct procedures, tools and equipment;
• Read and work from hydraulic drawings to diagnose faults correctly;
• Test hydraulic systems using flow meters, pressure gauges and hydraulic test rigs;
• Fit, set up and test hydraulic components, including making hydraulic hose assemblies;
• Carry out minor welding, bench fitting, drilling, tapping and basic machining tasks to support plant repairs.

• Self‑motivated, focused and able to work effectively with minimal supervision;
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage clearly and professionally;
• Understands the importance of the role and its operational requirements;
• Able to achieve results while working to strict deadlines;
• Works well both independently and as part of a team environment;
• Willing to go the extra mile when required to deliver successful outcomes;
• Good business knowledge and a clear understanding of system requirements;
• Experience in construction engineering, plant maintenance and piling rigs;
• Holds CSCS NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, or equivalent relevant qualification;
• Additional relevant qualifications such as IPAF, Harness training and CSC Card are desirable.
