Practice Manager – Pre-Opening

Priority Pet Urgent Care is opening a state‑of‑the‑art clinic in Leland, NC in March 2026. We are seeking a well‑rounded and experienced Practice Manager to help us achieve our vision.

Responsibilities Pre‑Opening Responsibilities
  • Practice design
  • Equipment ordering and tracking
  • Pre‑opening marketing
  • Vendor account setup
  • PMS setup
  • Supply purchasing
  • Support staff interviewing, hiring, and training in preparation for the grand opening
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners and staff; demonstrate exceptional management, organization, and customer service skills
General Practice Manager Duties
  • Make informal recommendations to the veterinary regional manager concerning personnel matters such as staffing needs, advancement, re‑assignments, and hours of work
  • Prepare employee work schedules and manage office staff
  • Direct on‑the‑job training, advise employees on performance requirements, discuss corrective measures, and prepare appraisals
  • Recruit, hire, onboard staff that fit the culture and hospital needs; terminate staff that do not follow guidelines and policies
  • Market the hospital to prospective customers and the veterinary community by attending local and regional events
  • Resolve informal employee complaints and provide clear explanations of personnel policies and procedures; maintain effective employee‑management communication
  • Obtain owner information, schedule appointments, and relay practitioner orders for animal care and treatment
  • Answer telephone calls politely and professionally
  • Promptly address and resolve pet owners’ complaints
  • Show unbiased judgment when managing people and make fair recommendations regarding personnel issues and disciplinary actions
  • Establish inventory control system to assure adequate stock of supplies; review best prices and monitor product quantities and quality
  • Implement hospital policies, including DEA/Controlled Substances and OSHA regulations
  • Ensure payroll is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner
  • Maintain good relationships with vendors and ensure hospital receives best support
  • Promptly notify veterinary staff of emergency cases
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Experienced or Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) with minimum 1 year of management experience (preferred 3+ years veterinary experience)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills; ability to direct, guide, and assist a team
  • Ability to work well with all team members and support the hospital, doctors, and practice philosophy
  • Compassionate and calm team‑player
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask
  • Highly organized and possess computer skills
  • Knowledge of patient record procedures and ability to accurately enter veterinary terminology
  • Self‑starter with desire to continue advancing knowledge and skillset
  • Open availability with flexibility to change hours based on hospital needs
