PositionSummary
The Recharge Technician works as part of a team under the supervision of the Recharge Suppression Manager to inspect, repair, test, and refill fire extinguishers and other pressure cylinders. The technician will ensure that all work is performed in compliance with NFPA-10 standards and company policies. The role requires physical labor, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain safety protocols in a warehouse and field environment.
CoreResponsibilities
- Inspect, repair, and test fire extinguishers using hand tools, hydrostatic test equipment, and monitoring devices
- Hydro-test low pressure cylinders
- Dismantle extinguishers and examine mechanical parts, extinguishing agents, and expelling means; replace worn or damaged parts
- Clean extinguishers and recharge them with approved materials
- Work under conditions of restricted movement, air contamination, lifting or carrying of heavy objects
- Maintain repairs and maintenance on fire extinguishers and systems in accordance with NFPA-10 standards
- Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures in compliance with company policy and vision
- Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols
- Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts and reconciling with data storage system
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to carry and move equipment and tools weighing more than 50 pounds, and perform physical labor in confined spaces, at heights, and in varied conditions such as climbing ladders or working in crawl spaces
- Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record
- Strong communication skills with the ability to report issues, solve problems, and adhere to safety protocols
- Capable of working independently and within a team
- Understanding of safety standards, equipment maintenance, and the ability to use hand tools and testing devices
- Consent to a background check upon hire
- Knowledge of NFPA-10 standards for fire extinguisher maintenance and testing
- Previous experience in fire safety, extinguisher maintenance, or related fields is preferred
- Any relevant technical certifications in safety equipment maintenance or inspection are a plus
- Experience operating a forklift in a warehouse setting
