A Engineer III is responsible for designing basic to advanced building systems, preparing design documents, and performing engineering calculations in coordination with project teams and other disciplines. They may support project management activities, manage tasks, and mentor less experienced designers, including direct supervision.

• Performs calculations and designs basic to advanced engineering systems independently.
• Prepares system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
• Reviews shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.
• Prepares, reviews, and modifies reports, plans, and designs for projects.
• Produces design documents.
• Performs research, recommends feasibility of systems/equipment, and evaluates products for application.
• Provides technical guidance to others and serves as team leader.

• Assists with developing, establishing, and maintaining relationships with strategic partners and customers for business development.
• Participates in client, company, and industry events to build and maintain professional relationships.

• Fosters a client‑centric mindset.
• Communicates with clients to develop and coordinate requirements and scope of work, maintaining proactive communication throughout the project cycle.
• Anticipates and answers questions from clients and architects.
• Visits job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
• Assists in resolving conflicts involving owners, architects, and contractors as needed.

• Identifies and seeks to fill gaps in industry and discipline knowledge.
• Seeks opportunities for continuous learning of industry software (Revit, Bluebeam, MS Office) and assists or trains others.
• Researches new products, industry trends, and evolving codes and standards.
• Shares information and updates with peers and leaders for technical and process improvements.
• Applies Henderson’s design guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures.

• Performs limited project‑management responsibilities under supervision.
• Supports coordination activities such as managing emails, scope, schedule, design team, client meetings, and ensuring project quality.

• Maintains a higher standard of industry‑wide expectations associated with PE license and Engineer of Record responsibilities.
• May be enabled as an Engineer of Record with additional oversight, responsibility, and accountability for signing and sealing the project.

• Keeps others well informed, prioritizes audiences, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Facilitates efficient, consistent workflow and exchange of information.
• Adjusts communication based on needs and audience makeup.
