The City of Lenexa Parks & Recreation Department is accepting applications for a part-time Manager on Duty (MOD) at the Lenexa Old Town Activity Center
. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy supporting others, delivering excellent customer service, and helping ensure smooth daily facility operations in a fast-paced recreation environment.

Position Summary:

The Manager on Duty (MOD) serves as the on-site leader during assigned shifts and supports the overall operation of the Activity Center. This role focuses on customer service, staff support, and safety oversight to help maintain a welcoming, well-organized, and efficient recreation facility.

Schedule:

This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling. Work occurs primarily during weekday evenings and weekends, with occasional holiday shifts as needed. Schedules are based on operational needs and staff availability, with an average of approximately 10–15 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the on-site point of contact during assigned shifts, supporting staff, members, and guests.
  • Provide high-quality customer service related to facility use, including check-ins, account inquiries, and point-of-sale transactions using Rec Trac software.
  • Support daily facility operations by conducting walkthroughs, assisting with room and event setup, and coordinating with maintenance staff to help ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment.
  • Monitor and respond to safety concerns and incidents, demonstrating knowledge of facility policies, emergency procedures, and communication systems, including contacting EMS when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and patrons, including documenting observations, incidents, and feedback through shift reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment

Starting rate of pay is $18.75 per hour.

Environmental and Physical Factors: Work is performed indoors in a busy Activity Center environment. This position requires medium physical work, including lifting and moving program-related supplies and materials. Long periods of standing and occasional extended shifts may be required during special events.

Offers of employment are contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment drug screen. A background check is required for applicants aged 18 and older.
