• The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) performs laboratory testing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration of equipment, quality control procedures, and is responsible for the validity of test results.
• Level I – perform laboratory assays in accordance with Viracor Eurofins standard operating procedures; operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment; maintain inventory; accept or reject test results; document remedial actions and maintenance; adhere to timelines and safety standards; perform other duties as assigned.
• Level II – all Level I responsibilities plus: general knowledge of SOP writing, assay theory, instrumentation; mentor and teach clinical laboratory methods; participate in training and special project teams.
• Level III – all Level II responsibilities plus: advanced SOP and assay knowledge; assist in troubleshooting; participate in committees; train-the-trainer and Qualified Personnel responsibilities.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Level I: BS or BA in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field, or Associate’s in Medical Laboratory Technician, or BS/BA in Biological or Chemical Science with 1 year of clinical lab experience.
• Willing to work with potentially infectious materials; ability to work with automated and manual platforms; aseptic technique proficiency; intermediate PC skills.
• Demonstrates integrity, strong communication, analytical judgment, problem solving, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Level II – Fully meets Level I requirements plus:

• Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience at CLS I level; skills to perform additional level requirements; ability to mentor and support others.

Level III – Fully meets Level II requirements plus:

• Minimum 6 years of clinical laboratory experience (including Viracor tenure); completed train-the-trainer program; ability to lead training and qualification; advanced troubleshooting and process improvement participation.

Physical Requirements:

• Dexterity for repetitive tasks with keyboard and equipment; clear communication and hearing ability; ability to stand for extended periods; lifting up to 25 pounds; ability to work around laboratory equipment; ability to use a computer for extended periods; mental acuity for data interpretation and decision-making.
