We are seeking an experienced Central Sterile Supply Technician PRN(CSST). The CSST is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments and equipment used in orthopedic procedures, ensuring instruments are properly processed and available for each case.
Responsibilities Decontaminate, clean, and inspect surgical instruments and orthopedic trays following each use Assemble and package instrument sets and specialty orthopedic trays (total joint sets, power equipment, arthroscopy instruments) according to count sheets
Operate and maintain sterilization equipment (steam autoclaves, low-temperature sterilizers) per manufacturer and regulatory guidelines
Perform biological, chemical, and mechanical sterilization monitoring and maintain related documentation/logs Track instrument counts, loaner trays, and implant inventory in coordination with OR staff and vendor representatives
Maintain proper storage and inventory of sterile supplies and instrumentation
Identify and report damaged or malfunctioning instruments for repair
Ensure compliance with AAMI and AORN standards for sterile processing
Support case cart preparation and turnover for scheduled orthopedic procedures
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sterile processing department
Experience/Education/Licensing.
Minimum 1 year of central sterile processing experience preferred; orthopedic instrumentation experience a strong plus Knowledge of sterilization techniques, instrument identification, and infection control standards
High school diploma or equivalent required
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification preferredBLS preferred
Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25–35 lbs., and work with high-heat sterilization equipment and chemical disinfectants.
