What You’ll Do:
Under direct supervision, assist in inspecting work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations. Document safety inspections, cite dangerous areas/procedures and recommend corrective procedures. Assist in maintaining safety equipment supply and availability. Sample and analyze for possible exposure to hazards such as chemicals, smoke, fumes, gases, vapors, noise and lighting. Assist in applying safety policies and procedures and in employee safety training.
Maintain assigned files and records including material safety data sheets and other paperwork ensuring compliance. May assist with aspects of hazardous material programs, ensuring all hazardous materials are received, handled, shipped, stored, labeled and disposed of in accordance with company and government regulations.
- Inspect work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations.
- Document safety inspections and recommend corrective procedures.
- Maintain safety equipment supply and availability.
- Sample and analyze for hazards and exposures (chemicals, smoke, fumes, gases, vapors, noise, lighting).
- Assist with employee safety training and safety program administration.
- Maintain files and records, including MSDS and related paperwork.
- Assist with hazardous material programs in accordance with regulations.
- Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A two year degree or equivalent is preferred.
- Foundational understanding and ability to train others in company, state and federal safety policies and regulations.
- Developing ability to train others in correct use of safety equipment.
- Foundational knowledge of biology, environmental science, chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Developing skills in operating lab equipment, generators, pumps, gauges, and other common tools.
- Developing ability to perform control calculations.
- Ability to produce quality, accurate work and to detect and correct errors.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation: This is an hourly non-exempt role. The starting pay range for this role and market is between $20– $26.60 per hour
. Factors that may affect starting pay include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are eligible to earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week or as required by state law.
