Overview

This role is at Sam’s Club in the cafe, focused on preparing food, serving members, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment. The base pay range is $16.00/hr - $23.00/hr, depending on skills and experience. The following information provides the general nature of work performed in the role and is not a comprehensive inventory of duties.

What you’ll do and how you’ll impact the café include ensuring high-quality products are fresh, ready, and available; maintaining sanitation and proper temperature control; packing ready-to-sell products and stocking displays; preparing and serving ready-to-eat food; and keeping the member area clean and ready for service.

Responsibilities
  • Be a Team Member:
    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product specifications related to prepared food merchandise; collaborate with cross-functional teams; educate other associates on tools, tasks and resources; communicate effectively with team members; and be flexible to work in other areas as needed.
  • Be an Expert:
    Prepare food according to item specifications; plan for future and seasonal productions; adhere to food safety standards, sanitation guidelines, cold chain compliance, inventory management; operate, maintain, and sanitize equipment; understand product and layout execution.
  • Be a Techie:
    Leverage digital tools to drive sales and improve the shopping experience; use handheld technology for production decisions, ordering merchandise, receiving club pickup orders, training, and product quality with the member in mind; adapt to new tools and encourage others to use them.
  • Be an Owner:
    Drive area performance; stock and rotate merchandise; ensure quality and date control standards; minimize waste; provide member service by acknowledging needs and assisting with purchases; manage payment types, locate merchandise, and resolve member issues.
  • Be a Talent Ambassador:
    Act as a brand advocate; develop, influence, and inspire others to work in a respectful, supportive, and team-oriented style; understand roadblocks and assist in training others.
  • Complies with company policies, procedures, and ethics; applies Open Door Policy in business processes and practices.
  • Completes work assignments by using policies, data, and resources; collaborates with managers, co-workers, customers, and partners; identifies priorities and deadlines; communicates progress and opportunities for improvement; adapts to change and feedback.

Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment.

The hourly wage range for this position is $16.00 to $23.00. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances (schedule, facility, season, or work performed). Premiums may apply if criteria are met.
