Job Details

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on production equipment and building systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair gearboxes, motors, vacuum pumps, blowers, roasters, grinders, conveyors, and packaging equipment.
  • Perform basic maintenance on compressors and HVAC systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using schematics, diagrams, and basic PLC/HMI input/output signals.
  • Maintain pneumatic valves, positioning systems, rotary airlocks, diverters, dust extraction equipment, screens, and shakers.
  • Service filling, sealing, conveying, wrapping, weighing, and batching equipment.
  • Support equipment installations, removals, commissioning, startups, and shutdowns.
  • Select appropriate tools and replacement parts; communicate parts usage and replenishment needs to the maintenance planner.
  • Identify equipment bottlenecks and make repairs or adjustments to maintain production flow and minimize downtime.
  • Support process improvements, automation projects, and facility expansion.
  • Coordinate with production leadership, maintenance colleagues, vendors, and contractors.
  • Operate equipment when required and train operators in proper operation and autonomous maintenance.
  • Follow food safety, quality, sanitation, and safety requirements, including BRC, HACCP, GMP, and PPE practices.

Needed:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing equipment maintenance and repair experience, including basic electrical knowledge.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills; ability to assemble and dismantle machinery using hand and power tools.
  • Experience with production and packaging automation, machine shop equipment, pneumatics, and vacuum systems.
  • Ability to read equipment schematics and diagrams.
  • Basic ability to interpret PLC/HMI inputs, outputs, and signals; familiarity with Allen-Bradley, Omron, or Panasonic equipment.
  • Experience with form-fill-seal baggers, dry-product fillers, can fillers, lid crimpers, and seamers.
  • Familiarity with conveyors, carton/tray erectors, shrink tunnels, stretch wrappers, scales, load cells, and batching systems.
  • Understanding of production processes, quality measurements, food safety, and safe maintenance practices.
  • Availability for overtime, weekends, holidays, and changing schedules as business needs require.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills; ability to prioritize repairs and report equipment concerns.
  • Preferred:
    Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, or Industrial Electrician certification; spreadsheet/MRP experience; VFFS, HFFS, cartoner, or high-speed packaging experience.
  • Especially valuable:
    Coffee roasting or food and beverage manufacturing experience.
