Electrophysiology Physician; MD​/DO - UNC Caldwell

Overview

Electrophysiologist Needed in Western North Carolina. UNC Caldwell is a 137-bed acute care hospital and part of the UNC Health System, serving the Greater Hickory Metro area. The Emergency Department sees approximately 30,000 visits a year. UNC Physicians Network provides primary and select specialty care from thirteen medical park locations throughout the county. UNC Caldwell is seeking to add an Electrophysiologist to the team.

• Full-time position requiring clinic, inpatient, and ED coverage
• Perform procedures in the cardiac cath lab; echo and stress testing available; pacemaker clinic available; cardiac rehabilitation available
• Contribute to building a new EP program; there is a current partnership with a local EP physician until a permanent hire is in place
• Support 24/7 access to an intensivist
• Collaborate with a small team within UNC Heart & Vascular and related specialties

• Cardiac Catheterization and inpatient/outpatient cardiology consultations
• Echocardiography and exercise treadmill testing
• Non-emergent angioplasty, PCI (angioplasty & stenting)
• Nuclear stress tests, pacemaker implantation
• Percutaneous peripheral vascular interventions (angioplasty & stenting)
• Radial cardiac catheterization
• Vascular ultrasound imaging diagnosis; cardiac rehabilitation
• TEE, TTE/TEE echocardiography

Cardiology services are offered through UNC Heart & Vascular with a future satellite location planned. A new Heart Center is opening in early 2026 with pre/post patient bays and two cardiac cath labs.
