Job Opportunities General Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform equipment-tending, sample collection, laboratory and observational work in the municipal wastewater treatment facilities.

• Ability to gain knowledge of methods, equipment, materials used in operation of wastewater treatment facility.
• Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations.
• Ability to test and report on results of wastewater.
• Ability to obtain wastewater certification levels in a timely manner.
• Ability to tactfully communicate with the public, City officials and staff, as well as fellow coworkers.

• Completion of high school; minimum of three years of stable work history; prefer completion of courses in wastewater treatment with a minimum of a Grade I certification or prior experience in public utilities.
• Candidates without certification may be paid at Trainee level (5% below minimum) until initial certification in wastewater treatment is obtained.

• Requires ability to lift 50 lbs. or more; to see, hear, climb, kneel, bend, and squat.
• Requires ability to work in varying weather conditions.
• Work hours vary; this is a 24/7 operation.
