About Emerald
Emerald is a women-owned firm providing architectural, interior, and construction services through integrated design-build or standalone design and construction offerings. Our projects include residential renovations, additions, custom homes, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), modular construction, and commercial projects.
We are currently seeking a Construction Foreman to join our growing team. This individual will work closely with our General Contractor and Construction Project Manager to lead daily field operations and work alongside our crew on residential and light commercial construction projects.
If you take pride in your work, enjoy leading by example, and bring practical experience in sitework, utilities, and concrete placement, we'd love to hear from you.
About this Position:
We are seeking a hands-on Construction Foreman to organize daily jobsite activities, direct field crews, coordinate trades, and maintain quality and safety while actively participating in construction work. Our construction division self-performs sitework, excavation, foundations, framing, and general carpentry. This role requires the ability to independently read and interpret site/civil, architectural, structural, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing drawings, identify conflicts, and coordinate field work with the project team.
We place greater emphasis on demonstrated trade experience and sound construction judgment than on a specific number of years in the industry.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead, supervise, and work alongside field crews in daily construction activities
- Perform and oversee self-performed sitework, excavation, underground utilities, concrete placement, framing, and general carpentry
- Coordinate daily work assignments, sequencing, manpower, materials, deliveries, and equipment needs
- Read and interpret site/civil, architectural, structural, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing drawings and specifications to coordinate construction accurately
- Perform field layout, establish grades and elevations, and verify dimensions and existing conditions
- Coordinate concrete preparation, formwork, reinforcement, placement, finishing, and curing
- Coordinate onsite work with subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors, including utility and MEP installation requirements
- Identify drawing discrepancies, trade conflicts, unforeseen conditions, and potential changes; coordinate resolution before proceeding
- Monitor workmanship, verify installation methods, and support inspections, punch lists, and corrective work
- Promote and enforce jobsite safety, maintain organized work areas, and protect existing structures, finished work, and client property
- Provide daily progress updates, photographs, labor records, and anticipated needs through company project management systems
- Train and mentor field personnel while maintaining accountability for productivity, quality, and professionalism
This is a full-time, field-based position serving project sites throughout Central Massachusetts and other areas within our service region. The Foreman will coordinate field decisions with project leadership and obtain authorization before committing to changes in scope or additional project costs.
Skills and Qualifications for Consideration:
- Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in sitework, excavation, underground utilities, and concrete placement is required.
- Ability to independently read and interpret site/civil, architectural, structural, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing drawings and specifications is required.
- Practical knowledge of construction methods, materials, sequencing, and coordination across multiple trades.
- Experience performing field layout, establishing elevations and grades, and verifying work against construction documents.
