STEM High School Teacher – St. Mary's County Public Schools
St. Mary's County Public Schools has recently adopted a Teacher Candidate Assessment. Once you submit your application, you will receive an email to complete the Teacher Candidate Assessment as part of your application package.
PositionFull‑time, ten‑month, exempt position.
Essential Functions- Professionally relate to and collaborate with co‑workers, students, and community members.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Use technology effectively to complete tasks.
- Report to work daily and on time.
- Possess knowledge of the programs, policies, and procedures of the St. Mary's County Public School System.
- Organize, supervise, coordinate, and establish priorities of tasks.
- Work independently, following complex oral and/or written instructions.
- Communicate orally or in writing courteously and tactfully with staff, students, parents, and the community in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate strong time‑management skills, initiative, and decision‑making in a fast‑paced environment.
- Assess, plan, and implement highly effective instruction in science and mathematics.
- Differentiate instruction based on student abilities and interests.
- Organize, plan, and provide enriched instruction to students in writing, science, and mathematics.
- Complete individual and group assessments to identify students' strengths and needs.
- Collaborate with other STEM teachers, the STEM Coordinator, and grade‑level Professional Learning Communities.
- Collaborate with community partners and field experiences outside the school day.
- Provide ongoing assessments to inform instructional decisions that meet students' needs.
- Integrate and enrich the writing process for highly able students.
- Implement technology and engineering projects to synthesize concepts learned.
- Differentiate instruction to meet a variety of learning abilities and styles.
- Perform other related and non‑related job duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Eligibility for professional certification/licensure of the appropriate grade and/or content.
- Recent teaching experience in engineering and/or physics.
Full‑time ten‑month position.
Salary Grade RangeThe salary for this exempt position will be based on the EASMC Teacher Career Ladder for ten‑month employees.
Bargaining Unit EligibilityEASMC.
