Band 6 Salary Range £41,608 - £50,702 per annum + On-Call
Distant Islands Allowance of £2,482 per annum
Relocation Assistance of up to £8,000 available
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two HCPC registered CT (Rotational) Radiographers to join our highly motivated and friendly Medical Imaging team. This position is based at Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick, Shetland.
Responsibilities- Rotate through CT and general x-ray, including mobiles and theatre, as part of the department’s rotation.
- Work within a UK NHS Hospital environment and contribute to a small, friendly team of Radiographers.
- Collaborate with reporting sonographers and radiographers, and provide patient care in acute and elective settings.
- Engage with remote Radiologist support where applicable and participate in 24-hour service cover with local clinicians.
- HCPC registration (Registered Radiographer).
- A minimum of 1 year’s experience as a fully qualified radiographer in a UK NHS Hospital, with evidence of rotating through CT.
- Understanding of the challenges and opportunities of working in an island/remote rural location.
The Medical Imaging Department currently has a team of 15 staff, including 9 Radiographers, 3 (4) Sonographers, 1 assistant practitioner and 1 admin assistant. Equipment includes two general DR rooms, two DR mobiles, a Fuji Xair Digital system, DR OPT/CEPH unit, a 128 slice GE Revolution Evo CT scanner, a Philips Blueseal 1.5T MRI scanner and two GE ultrasound rooms. We have a local PACS and are fully integrated with the Scottish national PACS.
The Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick serves Shetland’s 22,000 residents plus offshore and maritime populations, providing acute/elective general surgical and medical inpatient and outpatient services, with visiting consultants and telemedicine support. There is no resident Radiologist; reporting is supported by reporting sonographers and radiographers.
