Overview
Specialist Podiatrist (). Substantive. Full Time - 37 hours per week. Can be offered as a development post. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Podiatrist to join our small rural team providing podiatric interventions to the population of Shetland.
Role and Band- Band 6 - Salary Range £41,668 to £50,775 per annum
- Band 5 (Annex 21 during development), Salary Range £33,295 - £41,483 per annum
- Distant Island Allowance of £2,485 per annum
- Relocation Assistance of up to £8,000
The post is based at Lerwick health centre, with other clinics held at the Gilbert Bain hospital, outlying health centres, domiciliary visits and care homes. Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
Responsibilities- Coordinate, develop and lead aspects of this service as well as provide high quality care in general podiatry.
- Opportunity to work in specialist clinics, namely MSK, diabetes and wound care and rotational nail surgery clinics.
- Support CPD and service improvement activities.
- Demonstrate ability to organise workloads in a timely and efficient manner.
For recent graduates wishing to increase and develop the full range of clinical skills, this post can be an exciting opportunity. Appointment at Band 5 will be for an initial period of supervision and mentorship, with progression to Band 6 under Annex 21, and thereafter working autonomously.

Working week and hoursAs from 01/04/2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part-time hours will be reduced pro-rata with a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay is not affected.
