Sampling Officer

Overview

Position:
Sampling Officer (6‑month secondment/fixed‑term) within the Water Sampling team for Shetland, Scottish Water.

Plan, collect, process and deliver water samples across Shetland, visiting sites such as Water Treatment Works and customer premises. Work independently to meet daily and weekly targets, represent the organisation and maintain data integrity.

• Full, clean driving licence – you will travel in a branded van.
• Highly organised with a flexible approach to rescheduling and urgent tasks.
• Goal‑oriented and team‑focused with a keen eye for detail.
• Willingness to work after dark, on weekends and in a standby rota.
• Knowledge of UKAS accredited sampling procedures is highly desirable.

• Part‑time role: 25 hours per week with weekend and standby coverage.
• Pro‑rata 38 days holiday per year (including public holidays) – up to five additional days can be purchased.

• Grade 2 salary: £28,480 pro‑rata, progression to a maximum of £31,260.
